James Richard Tilley, 65, of Washington, formerly of Louisiana, died unexpectedly, Sunday, January 22, 2012, in his residence.
He was born October 7, 1946, in Jonesboro, Louisiana, a son of the late Wess and Allie D. Myers Tilley.
Mr. Tilley served in the Navy from April 6, 1970, until his honorable discharge on July 31, 1974, with a rank of Lieutenant. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and also enjoyed hunting, camping and being outdoors.
Mr. Tilley worked for many years and in many capacities in the oil and gas industry, the last six years as drilling manager for E.O.G. Resources in Canonsburg.
He was Baptist by faith.
On May 30, 1970, he married Donna B. Warren, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James “Wess” Tilley; a daughter, Sherrie Singleton, both of Haughton, Louisiana; two brothers, Randall Tilley of Titusville, Florida, and Marshall Tilley of Social Circle, Georgia; and seven grandchildren, Chase, Cade and Courtney Stepp, Paige and Abbie Pruett, and Caleb and Peyton Tilley.
A memorial reception will be held starting at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 26th, in Hilton Garden Inn-Southpointe, 1000 Corporate Drive, Canonsburg. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Haughton, Louisiana.
