Carl Alfred Tustin, 84, of Washington, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, in the Donnell House, after a six and a half year illness.
He was born on June 27, 1927, in Washington, a son of William E. and Elsie Bowero Tustin.
A 1945 graduate of Washington High School, where he wrestled, and was on the football team.
Mr. Tustin had worked for 42 years for Bell Telephone, and AT&T Lucent Technologies, as a technician.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He was a 50-year member of the Washington Masonic Lodge 164, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
A fan of watching sports, he especially enjoyed college basketball and the Penguins, and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian Lee (Vicki) Holmes, a son, William C. (Wendy) Tustin, of Collierville, TN; 2 grandchildren, Kristopher W. Tustin and Rachel C. Tustin; 4 nieces, Cindy Ackmann, Pamela Songer, Krista (Aaron) Ramella and Brandi Humphreys; a special nephew, Robert (Barbara) Humphreys, and 3 nephews, Paul Cole, Balin Ramella, and Evan Ackmann.
Deceased are a brother, Paul E. Tustin, and 2 sisters, M. Jane Tustin and Ruth E. Cole.
Services were private and held at the convenience of the family.
