Charlene Welch, 77, of Washington, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, in Humbert Lane Healthcare Center, after having been in declining health.
She was born in Washington on January 27, 1935, a daughter of Lewis and Leota Hollar Welch.
After graduation from Washington High School and working for Bell Telephone, she enlisted in the United States Air Force and spent a total of thirty-one years working for the federal government.
Charlene enjoyed walking outdoors when she was able, animals and doing word searches. She was a 44 year member of American Legion Post # 175.
She is survived by many friends and her long time caregiver and friend, Mary Ann Rogers.
Deceased are her brothers, Paul, Lewis, Jay, Lee, Donald, Byron, and Fred; and sister’s Nora, Marie, Edna, Elizabeth Ann, Ella, and Mary Lou.
At the request of the deceased, no public visitation will be held. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 10:00 AM at the Washington Cemetery.
