Charlene Welch

Charlene Welch, 77, of Washington, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, in Humbert Lane Healthcare Center, after having been in declining health. She was born in Washington on January 27, 1935, a daughter of Lewis and Leota Hollar Welch. After graduation from Washington High School and working for Bell Telephone, she enlisted in the United States Air Force and spent a total of thirty-one years working for the federal government. Charlene enjoyed walking outdoors when she was able, animals and doing word searches. She was a 44 year member of American Legion Post # 175. She is survived by many friends and her long time caregiver and friend, Mary Ann Rogers. Deceased are her brothers, Paul, Lewis, Jay, Lee, Donald, Byron, and Fred; and sister’s Nora, Marie, Edna, Elizabeth Ann, Ella, and Mary Lou. At the request of the deceased, no public visitation will be held. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 10:00 AM at the Washington Cemetery.
