Hilda Ashmore Sendro Carter

Hilda Ashmore Sendro Carter, 87, died on February 23, 2012 in Greensboro NC. She was born August 12, 1924 in Washington PA to Henry Quinn and Mary Aurelia Ashmore. Hilda married Theodore Sendro on 12-7-1942. Ted died in 1950. Surviving are 2 daughters, Theodora Sendro Robards (Jim) of Greensboro NC and Carolyn Marie Sendro Frye (Phil) of Meadowlands PA. She married Joseph Carter on 6-14-1968. Joe passed away in 1994. Surviving are Hilda’s step children Nancy Carter Bielawski (Roman) of Washington PA, Beverly Carter Romanetti (Ron) of Avella PA, J.H. Carter Jr. (Sharon) of Sefner FL. A son, Thomas Carter (Mindy) died in 2011. Hilda had 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Deceased are her sisters Annie Ashmore, Mary Ashmore Munchie and brothers Bill, Andrew and Lewis Ashmore. She has one surviving sister Freda Ashmore Massey (Barton, deceased) of Midway PA and sister-in-law Mary Jane Allegro Ashmore (Lewis, deceased) of Washington PA. After moving to Greensboro NC in 1995 she became a member of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed the church’s senior group and helping in the reception area. She enjoyed traveling whenever she could. She especially loved watching the waves at the ocean. She was a homemaker and caregiver all her life. She loved and cherished her family, including her nieces, nephews and special friend, Laverne Dinch. She will be missed very much by all who knew her. The family will receive friends at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington PA on Sunday, Feb. 26th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday Feb 27th, 10am at St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Ave., Washington PA, with the Rev. Thomas D. O’Neil as celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Washington Cemetery Mausoleum.
