Donna Marie Grimm, 55, of Houston, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, following a year-long battle with leukemia.
She was born July 11, 1956, in Washington, a daughter of the late Harry R. and Dorothy M. Null Grimm.
Ms. Grimm was a 1974 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School. For 37 years, she worked at Eighty-Four Lumber Company as a kitchen designer.
Ms. Grimm was a member of Meadow Lands United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, volunteered with Vacation Bible School, Angel Food Ministries, and other church projects, and served as president of United Methodist Women.
She enjoyed reading and spending time with nieces and nephews.
Ms. Grimm was instrumental in raising money to purchase 26 recliners, one for every room on 7W in Shadyside Hospital.
She was a very special person and will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are a brother, Richard (Linda) Grimm of West Finley; a sister, Betty (Jerry) Paraska of Houston; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends at 84 Lumber Co.
Deceased is a brother, Ted Grimm.
Friends will be received Wednesday from Noon to 3 and 4 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held in Meadow Lands United Methodist Church, from 9 to 10 a.m., on Thursday, March 15th, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., with Rev. Jeff Conn officiating.
