Jennie Comer Lewis,87,a lifelong resident of Washington PA, joined the Lord on March 14, 2012. She was born on April 15, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angeline Kavolak.
Jennie loved people and life on the go. She was active in politics and served as a Democratic Party Committee Woman in Canton Township. She retired from the Washington Hospital after many years in the housekeeping department, but she found the need for more activity in retirement and joined BiLo Markets in the bakery department. Jennie’s enjoyed bingo, shopping and dining out. She was a member of Saint Hilary’s Catholic Church.
Jennie was married to Louis Comer who preceded her in death in 1981 after 37 years of marriage. She re-married in 1989 to Donald Lewis who passed away in 1991. Jennie was also preceded in death by her son, Louis Joseph “Joey” Comer, in 2000 at the age of 41 and a brother, Carl Kavolak. She is survived by a beloved daughter, Patricia Rotunda, a son-in-law, Joseph Rotunda, and a grandson, Joe Rotunda, all of Austin TX; a sister Virginia Lonski of Aliquippa PA; a brother, Alfred Kavolak, of Washington PA; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at the William G. Neal Funeral Home, 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2012, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, with Father Thomas D. O’Neil as celebrant. She will be interred at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 235 Alpha Drive, Suite 101, Pittsburgh PA 15238.
