Joseph Edward Luster, 65, of West Finley, formerly of Auburndale, Florida, died Monday, March 19, 2012, in the Washington Hospital, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born September 17, 1946, in Washington, a son of the late Frances Claire Luster.
After attending Avella schools, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps on January 13, 1965, and for his service received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, with 1 Star, Vietnam Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Armed Forces Expedition Medal, Marksman Badge - Rifle M14, Marksman Badge - Rifle M1. He was Honorably Discharged on January 10, 1969.
Mr. Luster was a truck driver for Falcon Transport.
He was a member of the American Legion, Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, and Veterans of Foreign War, in Washington. He enjoyed gardening and collecting coins.
Mr. Luster attended Rogersville Christian Church.
Surviving are a brother, John Anthony Baker, of Tallahassee, Florida; four sisters, Rose (Thomas) Taylor, of West Finley, Arlene F. Ringheisen, of Tallahassee, and Deborah Littell and Cindy Powell, both of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Sherry Littell and a brother, James Littell.
Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
