Eileen K. Block

Went home to Jesus Eileen K. Block, 75, of Eighty-Four, died on Friday, March 23, 2012, in the Washington County Health Center. She was born on December 5, 1936, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Charles and Dora M. Vaughn Stevens. After graduating from high school, she went on to receive a degree from Penn Commercial Business and Technical School. She worked briefly at Sears. Mrs. Block was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Canonsburg, where she held many offices, including, Vice Chairman, Deaconess and Elder. Her love of church was equaled only by her love of nature. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a wonderful aide to her husband’s writing. She will be missed greatly by those she loved and who loved her. Surviving are her husband, George H. Block, III; a son, Patrick (Shelly) Block, of Washington; a daughter, Kathleen (Mike) Ward, of Washington; 5 grandchildren, Doug and Jennifer Byrd, James Ward, and Christopher and Jessica Block; and 4 great grandchildren. Deceased are 2 sisters, Pauline Daniels and Zolla Tharp; and 4 brothers, Charles, Donald, Gilbert and Fred Stevens. Friends and family will be received on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Janet Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Finleyville Cemetery
