Took another part of mother’s heart
Curtis Robert Gregg, Sr., 60, of Washington, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 25, 2012, in his residence. He had formerly lived for 30 years in Texas and Arizona, after serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was born on September 13, 1951, in Washington, a son of Audrey Ruth Chipps Gregg, of Washington, and the late Clayton E. Gregg, Jr.
Curtis had attended school in the Trinity School District.
He entered the U.S. Navy on March 19, 1969. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.
Mr. Gregg had worked in apartment maintenance and as a construction foreman.
He enjoyed playing the guitar, riding motorcycles, working on cars, and had a big love of nature.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his longtime companion of 27 years, Betty Wines; a son, Curtis Gregg, Jr., of North Carolina, a daughter, Amy Robertson, of Vancouver, WA, a sister, Sherry L. Gregg, of Washington; 5 grandchildren, an aunt, Maggie Mowl, and special cousins, Melody DePretis, Bobby Gregg, Jody VanVarenberg, and Surry Bowman, as well as many friends.
Deceased are his maternal grandparents, Clarence F. and Nannie Kelley Chipps, and paternal grandparents, Clayton E. Gregg, Sr., and Jean Gregg Snyder; a son, Bobby Gregg, and a twin brother, Clayton E. Gregg, III.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, from 3 to 7 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd, 395 East Maiden St., Washington
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
