Opal Louise Spence Jones, 91, of Washington, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Town View Nursing Care after having been in declining health.
She was born in Washington on May 16, 1920, a daughter of Rea T. and Faye H. Watters Spence and was a graduate of Washington High School.
On May 15, 1951, she married Oscar “ Buck “ Jones, who died on May 22, 1999.
For more than forty years, she worked at J. C. Penney as a sales clerk. She was a long time active member of Chartiers Cross Roads United Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Young at Heart Group. She had been a member of the Gretna Grange until it’s closing, at which time she became a member of the Buffalo Grange, having been a member for greater than fifty years. She additionally enjoyed traveling on several Senior Bus Tours yearly as well as playing bingo.
Surviving are a son, Rea D. ( Janice ) Jones of Washington; grandchildren, Michael A. ( Candis ) Jones, and Brian R. Jones; great-grandchildren, Anderson R. and Brinton J. Jones; as well as Brian’s fiancée Heather Yoder and her daughter Hallee.
Preceding her in death is a brother Rea T. Spence, Jr.
Friend of Opal Louise Spence Jones, 91, of Washington, who died Saturday, March 31, 2012, will be received on Wednesday, from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to: Chartiers Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, 502 Old Hickory Ridge Road, Washington, PA 15301.
