Evelyn M. Farabee

Evelyn Mae Farabee, 92, of Washington, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, in Kade Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 20, 1919, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Earl and Cora Amos Shrum. Mrs. Farabee was a 1936 graduate of Washington High School and worked as an inspector-packer at Duncan Miller for 40 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and neighbors, and especially enjoyed the afternoons she shared cookies and coffee with her beloved sister, Mildred. Mrs. Farabee painted many oil paintings for her family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Farabee was Baptist by faith. Deceased are her husband, L. Barnes “Barnie” Farabee; a daughter, Claramae Barton; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth “Betty” Pettit; one stepson, Kenneth B. Farabee; and a brother, Harold Shrum. Surviving are a sister, Mildred Higgins of Washington; three grandchildren, Hiedy Gardipee, Wendy Dean and Robert Christopher Barton, all of Alaska; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two step-grandsons, Kent Pettit and Karl Pettit; four step great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Robert Barton of Alaska. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing.
