Catherine J. Lawton

Catherine Jeanne Lawton, 83, of Herndon, Virginia, died April 6, 2012. She was born October 3, 1928, in Washington, daughter of Charles Frederick and Edith May Hagen Moore. Mrs. Lawton worked at First Virginia Bank for 27 years, retiring as vice president of student loans. She was an avid gardener when her health permitted. On March 12, 1946, she married William E. Lawton, who died January 8, 2008. Surviving are two sons, William E. Lawton Jr. of Fresno, California, and Barry Alan Lawton of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a brother, James Moore of Austin, Texas; three sisters, Marge King of West Middletown, Sue Pegram of Mt. Pleasant and Marilyn Beatty of Ventura, California; four grandchildren, Kathryn Aycock, Andrea Craddock, Brittany Lawton and Nicholas Lawton; four great-grandchildren, Madeline Aycock, Jonathan Aycock, Kelly Craddock and Stuart Craddock. Deceased are a brother, Donald Moore, and a sister, Leora Fonner. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 13th, with Pastor Jack Emerick officiating. Burial will follow in West Middletown Cemetery.
