Lettie Lucile Baer, 90, of Washington, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, in the Washington Hospital, following a five-week illness.
She was born May 23, 1921, in Hanson, Kentucky, a daughter of Jack and Ruby Trice Dawes.
Mrs. Baer worked the soda fountain at the original Walgreen’s store in Detroit, Michigan, under Mr. Walgreen himself. She also worked at the Packard Plant in piston inspection and for RCA.
Mrs. Baer was an avid reader and a sports enthusiast, following the Pirates, Steelers, Penguins and Nittany Lions football.
Her husband, Clarence V. Baer, died in February 1993.
Surviving are son, Timothy L. Baer of Washington; daughter, Susan J. (Jim) Wilson of Claysville; three grandchildren, Zachary James Wilson, Jacob Dawes Wilson and Lettie Elizabeth Wilson.
Deceased are a son, Victor L. Baer; and five sisters, Agnes Hill, Katherine Crowley, Joyce Bell, Nola Basinger and Jean Tipton.
Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Noon to 1:30 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, April 11th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
