Freda Pearl Hammett, 84, of Washington, formerly of Amity, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, in Presbyterian Senior Care, following a lengthy illness.
She was born October 27, 1927, in Canton Township, daughter of Frank and Samantha Yater Lindley.
Mrs. Hammett attended Morris Township schools. She was a homemaker and had once worked at Hazel Atlas. Mrs. Hammett was a member of Redds Run Homemakers and enjoyed arts and crafts, genealogy and history.
On January 20, 1947, she married Leroy Roger Hammett, who died March 25, 1999.
Surviving are four daughters, Linda Aloia and Carolyn (Ken) Foutz, both of Washington, Susan Hupp of Amity and Leann (Jim) Thornton of Wheeling, West Virginia; three brothers, Floyd Lindley of Washington, Frank Lindley of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Clarence Lindley of Tacoma, Washington; a sister, Helen York of Suitland, Maryland; and grandchildren, Mark (Tonya) and Chris (Trish) Aloia, Jeffrey (Jenny) Foutz, Valarie (Billy) Varesio, Jason Thornton and Roger Frazee; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are grandsons, Michael Aloia and Chad Frazee; a son-in-law, Clifford Hupp, a brother, John Lindley; and sisters, Mary Ealy, Louise Lindley and Loretta Miller.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 19th, with John Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
