Ronald Lee McKenzie, Sr., 71, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in the Donnell House, following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 15, 1941, in Washington, son of the late Horace and Violet Mae McKenzie.
Mr. McKenzie worked for Metro and Ball Glass for 25 years and later worked for Glenshaw Glass for 11 years.
His family was one of his greatest accomplishments. It gave him great joy to be a father and grandfather.
Mr. McKenzie had many interests, including attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, watching the Steelers, attending auctions, and fishing.
He was a member of the Washington Hospital Auxiliary and also volunteered on the snack cart before his illness. He attended the Gospel Way Church in Canonsburg.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Mattie Ruth McKenzie; three sons, Ronald Lee McKenzie, Jr., Sean McKenzie Sr., and Brandon McKenzie, all of Washington; five grandchildren, Darnel Howell and Shaniah McKenzie of Decatur, Georgia, and Shai, Gabriella and Sean McKenzie Jr., all of Washington; two sisters, Juanita Prentice of Washington and Jeanette McKenzie of Canonsburg; two aunts, Johnnie Mae Dates and Willie Dates, both of Washington; a sister-in-law, Joanne McKenzie of Seattle, Washington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Marlene Brown; and a brother, Horace McKenzie.
At the request of the deceased, there was no public visitation or services. Burial was private in Washington Cemetery
