Harry Edward Thomas, Jr., 73, of Washington, died on Friday, March 11, 2012, in the Washington Hospital. He was born on October 27, 1938, in Washington, a son of the late Harry Edward Thomas, Jr. and Ruth Parsons Thomas. A 1957 graduate of Trinity High School, he was also a graduate of Shiloh Bible Institute. He was a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship, where he was an Elder and treasurer. Mr. Thomas worked as district service manager for International Harvester Company in Pittsburgh, from 1964 until 1970; service and parts manager for Van-Ed Motor Sales, in Washington, from 1970 until 1973; was owner and operator of Harry Thomas Truck and Trailer Repair, in Washington, from 1973 until 1982; and was owner and operator of Exodus Construction Company, in Washington, from 1980 until 1992. He also worked as a mechanic and dispatcher at Allegheny Power, from 1992 until 2002, and for the past 5 years, at American Battery. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from March 9, 1960, until his honorable discharge on April 17, 1962. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, and Sharpshooter, Marksman and Expert badges. A member of the Anawanna Hunting and Fishing Club, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. On August 4, 1957, he married Shirley M. Wood, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Edward Ray (Karen) Thomas, of Berlin, PA and Dale Sherman (Stacy) Thomas, of Washington; a daughter, Lovella Ann (Don) Kuhn, of Claysville; 4 brothers, Edward Thomas, of Washington, Glenn Thomas, of Lindenwald, NJ., and Floyd and David Thomas, both of Washington; 2 sisters, Alice Ferry, of Bakersfield, CA and Shirley Leeper, of Washington; 9 grandchildren, Bethany, Christopher, Shana, Alyssa, Jake, Dylan, Jessica, Brianna and Trevor. Deceased are a sister, Wilda Scott and a daughter who died at birth. Friends will be received on Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Additional visitation will be on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of services, in the Trinity Bible Fellowship, 1350 Park Ave., Washington, with Pastor Michael Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Prosperity. Full military rites will be accorded graveside, by the Edwin Scott Linton, Post 175 of the American Legion.
