Mary "Mamie" E. Beck

Mary Eleanor “Mamie” Beck, 86, of Washington, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Donnell House, following a six-week illness. She was born June 28, 1925, in Grafton, West Virginia, daughter of Deward Knotts Sr. and Gertrude Felton Knotts. Mrs. Beck was a homemaker who enjoyed her family. She was a former member of Calvary Temple. On April 4, 1943, she married Stanley Beck, who died June 26, 2007. Surviving are a niece whom she raised, Crystal Beatty; two grandchildren, James and Joshua Beatty; and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased are a brother, Deward Knotts, Jr.; and two sisters, Dorothy Ward and Evelyn Stainbrook. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 18th, with Thomas Ward officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
