Charles W. Hickerson, 46, of Claysville, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born August 28, 1965, in Washington, a son of Russell Ray and Ida Mae Fluharty Hickerson.
On September 9, 1983, he entered the U.S. Navy, and for his service was awarded the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation with Operational Device, and the Good Conduct Award. He was Honorably Discharged September 5, 1987.
Mr. Hickerson was a steel worker at Ametek Specialty Metal.
He was a member of Washington Lodge #164 F&AM, Moose Lodge #22, Moose Legionnaires, and the American Legion, Post 907, Taylorstown.
Mr. Hickerson enjoyed karaoke and playing Santa Claus every year.
On November 17, 2007, he married Janis Chadwick, who survives.
Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Caitlin Zrimm and Savanna Zrimm, both of Claysville; a sister, Julie (Samuel) Harbert, of Wileyville, WV; and a grandson, Steven Richey.
Deceased is a brother, Walter Hickerson.
Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2012, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, James R. Hunt, Post 639, Claysville.
