Hazel Kearns Woods

Hazel Kearns Woods, 87, of Washington, died on Saturday, July 7, 2012, in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home. She was born on May 4, 1925, in Monongahela, a daughter of George Gold and Bessie Williams Kearns. A 1942 graduate of Trinity High School, she was a member of Glenn Street Free Methodist Church. Mrs. Woods had worked at Bobbie Brooks and then as a nurse’s aid at the Washington County Health Center, where she retired in 1985. On August 15, 1943, she married Charles Paul Woods, who died in September, 1978. Surviving are 3 sons, Charles Paul Woods, Jr., of Hurricane, WV, Donald Frank Woods, of Hillcrest, VA, and Daniel Howard Woods, of Washington; a brother, James Richard Kearns, of Avella, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Deceased are 2 brothers, William Francis Kearns and George Earl Kearns, and a sister, Bessie Leech. Services and burial at Forest Lawn Gardens were private and held at the convenience of the family.
