Walter E. "Bud" Irwin, Jr., 85, of Washington, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, in Donnell House.
He was born June 9, 1927, in Washington, son of the late Walter E. and Vern Steck Irwin.
Mr. Irwin served in the Navy from May 31, 1945, until his honorable discharge as a storekeeper, third class, on July 22, 1946. He was
awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon with one star, American Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. After his discharge, he served in the Navy
Reserves until March 5, 1955.
Mr. Irwin worked in the dairy department at A&P Tea Company for 33 years. He was a member of First Christian Church and its dart ball league and enjoyed traveling.
On December 9, 1951, he married Lavonna “Bonnie” Kiger, who died October 9, 2011.
Surviving are a son, David Irwin of New York, New York; and a daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Palombo of McMurray.
Deceased is a sister, Catherine Perrine.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 25th, with Rev. Stephen Smythers officiating. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
