Dominic John “Dee” Bellotti, 92, of Washington, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, in Presbyterian Senior Care.
He was born January 10, 1920, in Maxberry, West Virginia, son of Giovanni and Orsula Nicastro Bellotti.
During World War II, Mr. Bellotti served in the Army with the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Division, in Europe. He was involved in battles in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. For his service, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, American Theater Service Medal, and European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 bronze battle stars and one bronze arrowhead. Mr. Bellotti was honorably discharged as a private, first class, on November 6, 1945.
A concrete finisher for many years, he worked for Russell Brothers in the 1950s till mid 1960s. He then worked as a caster operator at Washington Steel Corporation for 26 years.
His family was most important to him. He enjoyed gardening and especially enjoyed growing and canning hot peppers, which he shared with many people.
Mr. Bellotti was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
On May 9, 1946, he married Mary Cannataro Kennedy, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, John Dominic Bellotti (Kim Siebert) of Manor; two daughters, Janet Marie Puppo (Giovanni) of Pittsburgh and Beverly Ann Baldwin (Ira) of Washington; seven grandchildren, Dominic John Bellotti, Angela K. Bellotti, Joseph S. Puppo (Mary), Annamaria Acree (Jeff), Gina M. Puppo, Lori A. Naser (Jim), and Teresa M. Lesako (Michael); four great-grandchildren, Gabriella Elise Bellotti, Julia N. Naser, Matteo A. Lesako and Gina D. Lesako; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Deceased are brothers Frank, Jimmy, Jack, Tony, and Joe Bellotti; and sisters, Catherine Angott, Rose Romano, Lucy Caputo and Mary Bellotti.
Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 28th, in Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Nicholas Spirko as celebrant. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, PA 15301, or to John F. Kennedy School, 111 West Spruce Street, Washington, PA 15301. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
