Cyrus Gordon Rush, 93, of Waynesburg, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, in his home, with his family at his side.
He was born July 31, 1918, in Washington, a son of Stanley O. and Margaret Williams Rush.
Mr. Rush graduated from Avella High School.
On January 30, 1943, he entered the U.S. Army, having served with the 311th Medical Battalion as a surgical technician. He served in the Rhineland Campaign, during World War II, and for his service was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, receiving an Honorable Discharge on December 28, 1945.
Mr. Rush worked at U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh for 23 years as a maintenance engineer.
He was a member of First Assembly of God Church and previously attended Trinity Bible Fellowship.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and motorcycles, when he was younger.
On July 11, 1948, he married Ruth Gibson, who died August 6, 1996.
Surviving are three sons, Gregory S. (Sharon “Liz”) Rush, of Waynesburg, with whom he made his home the last 16 years, Timothy G. Rush, of Washington, and Arthur G. Rush, of Canonsburg; a brother, Albert Rush, of West Middletown; a sister, Geraldine Rush, of Ford City; and 2 grandchildren, Ryan and Arthur.
Deceased are two brothers, Howard and James; and a sister, Elizabeth.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2012, with Pastor Rick Ritenour officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
