Helen Borkowski Peters, 85, of Washington, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in Washington County Health Center.
She was born August 24, 1926, in Washington, daughter of Stanley and Anna Bulat Borkowski.
During World War II, she worked in a local defense plant and later worked as a waitress at the George Washington Hotel.
Mrs. Peters was a member of Holy Trinity National Catholic Church and its Ladies Adoration Society. She was also a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post175 Ladies Auxiliary and the Polish Club, where she played dart ball.
On October 16, 1952, she married Robert Gene Peters, who died June 29, 1997.
Surviving are four daughters, Doris (John) Barden of Woodstock, Georgia, Dora (David) Edell of Kennesaw, Georgia, Sherry (Daniel) Traugh of Hyde Park, and Kimberly (Todd) Sloane of Frostburg, Maryland; a brother, Edward (Alice) Borkowski; a sister, Genevieve Uniejewski, both of Washington; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons who died in infancy, Charles Peters and Stanley Zofchak; two brothers, Walter and Chester Borkowski; and a sister, Mary Jane McCoy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m., Friday, August 3rd, in Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, with Father Mark Swoger as celebrant. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, 605 North Hewitt Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
