Joseph John Borowski, 88, of Washington, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012, in Humbert Lane Nursing Home.
He was born June 30, 1924, in Washington, son of Joseph Daniel and Apolonija Walaszewski Borowski.
Mr. Borowski served in the Navy from April 6, 1943, until his honorable discharge on February 16, 1946, as a Seaman, First Class. For his service, he was awarded the World War II Victory medal, American Campaign Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Medal.
Mr. Borowski worked at Hazel-Atlas, where he met his wife, then worked for 28 years at Jessop Steel.
He was a member of Holy Trinity National Catholic Church and Steele-Lillie American Legion Post 744.
Mr. Borowski enjoyed polka music, electronics and radios, Pittsburgh sports, and fishing.
On February 5, 1949, he married Dorothy Brodnick, who died July 31, 2012.
Surviving are a daughter, Paula Behm of Marianna; two sisters, Stella Gibson and Jennie Sarnicke, both of Washington; three grandchildren, Gary J. (Kristine) Behm, Kristine Behm and Michelle Behm; a great-grandson, Zachary Behm; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Victor Borowski.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, August 4th, in Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, with Father Mark Swoger as celebrant. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
