Our Beloved Nana
Fannie M. DeWitt, 103, of Washington, died on Saturday, August 4, 2012, in her home.
She was born on November 19, 1908, in Marianna, a daughter of Harry and Gerthie Walker Michener.
A member of Calvary Temple, she had worked as a retail clerk.
She loved to visit with family and friends, was an avid crossword puzzle solver, liked soap operas and enjoyed knitting dishcloths.
On June 11, 1930, she married Everett “Buck” DeWitt, who died on July 31, 1984.
Surviving are 2 sons, Harry W.(Barbara) DeWitt, of Canonsburg and Randy L. (Nancy) DeWitt, of Washington; a daughter, Shirley M. Hildebrand, of Washington; 18 grandchildren, Rod, Tod and Brad DeWitt, Scott, Terry and Chad DeWitt, Penny Anderson, Cort Bozik, Julie Hemp, Denise Taylor, Doug, Jeff and Mike Hildebrand, Tracy Patrick, Missy Comer, Cody Bedillion, Bambi Reusch and Nicholas DeWitt; 39 great grandchildren, and 20 great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Daniel DeWitt, a daughter, Becky Lynn Bedillion; a grandchild, Bruce Hildebrand, a great grandchild, Isaiah, 2 brothers, Albert and Harry Michener, and 3 sisters, Goldie Campbell, Clara Gallingani and Dorothy Mullen.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Additional visitation will be in Calvary Temple, on Thursday, from 12 to 1 p.m., the time of services, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating.
Burial will be private, and held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice or charity of choice.
