Helen Yurik

Helen Yurik, 85, of Washington, died on Thursday, August 16, 2012, in the Washington Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born on August 12, 1927, in Washington, a daughter of Steven and Louise Gersna Sitko. A member of Calvary Temple, she had worked for 25 years at Thorofare Market. Mrs. Yurik enjoyed doing word-find puzzles. On September 6, 1947, she married Joseph Yurik, who died on August 13, 1989. Surviving are a daughter, Joanne M. Yurik, of Falls Church, VA; a brother, Paul Sitko, Sr., of Wheeling, WV; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Deceased are a sister, Johanna Vinosky; and 5 brothers, Steve, Michael, John, Charles and Edward Sitko. Friends will be received on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., where services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Paul Sitko, Jr. officiating.
