Wilbur E. Shumaker, 86, of Hickory, peacefully passed away on August 23, 2012, in Washington County Health Center.
He was born November 27, 1925, in Somerset, a son of the late Ira C. and Missouri Shumaker.
Mr. Shumaker was retired from the Fisher Body Division of General Motors. He served in the Merchant Marines and Navy during World War II.
Mr. Shumaker was a member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Marianne; three daughters, Linda Sparks and husband James, Susan Lilley and husband Joey, and Kathleen Gregg and husband Douglas, all of Hickory; three granddaughters, Kelley Sparks, Jami Volk and husband Vincent, and Lorianne and husband Jarod Ethridge; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn O’Bryon, Connor Allen, Sarrah and Wynston Ethridge.
Deceased are three sisters and one brother.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Stuart Broberg officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1100 Liberty Ave, Ste E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
