Jean Claire Mankey, 82, of Washington, died August 31, 2012, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care, North Franklin Township.
She was born November 2, 1929, in Washington County, a daughter of Demas and Hilda Whitfield Post.
Mrs. Mankey was a van driver for the Washington Senior Citizens Center.
She was a graduate of Trinity High School and a member of Lone Pine Christian Church.
On July 30, 1948, she married Ray Howard Mankey, who died December 10, 2010.
Surviving are two sons, Samuel R. Mankey and wife Joyce, of Washington, and R. Mark Mankey and wife Dwana, of Prosperity; a sister, Martha Smith, and daughter-in-law, Linda Mankey, both of Washington; six grandchildren, Dana Holmes, of Washington, Denise (Jason) Rhoades, of Prosperity, Justin (Kim) Mankey, of Marianna, Wesley Mankey, of Amity, and Chelsea and Ali Mankey, of Prosperity; and five great- grandchildren, Cheyenne Rhoades, Kayla and Jessica Holmes, and Mackenzie and Jacob Mankey; brother-in-law, Harry Mankey, sister-in-law, Dora Hatfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, is a son, D. Reed Mankey.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012, with Pastor Linda Mankey and Pastor Gary Gibson, co-officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Pine Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care, Benevolent Care Fund, 835 S. Main Street, Washington, PA 15301.
