Jean Day, 95, of Washington, died Friday, August 31, 2012, in Washington County Health Center. She was born August 13, 1917, in Washington, a daughter of Harold Wiley and Mary Baker McClenathan. Mrs. Day was a graduate of Trinity High School. She worked at Presbyterian Medical Center as a cook, and then worked as a sales clerk at JC Penney, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Day was a 70+-year member of Liberty United Methodist Church, as well as a member of Chestnut Ridge Grange 1133, the Pomona Grange, where she was a former officer, the State Grange, where she served as a State Deputy, and the Amwell Township Historical Society. On April 4, 1942, she married Jonathan H. Day, who died May 27, 1980. Surviving are two sons, Jon W. Day and Raymond W. Day (Joanne), both of Washington; three daughters, Carolyn Hupp and Mary Chambers (Gerald), both of Washington, and Laura Sharpnack (Bruce) of Hickory; two brothers, Frank H. McClenathan of Prosperity and Fred C. McClenathan of Washington; three sisters, Margaret Townsend and Mary Wall, both of Washington; and Sara Cale of McMurray; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Deceased are brothers, James R. and William E. McClenathan; and a sister, Ellen Wilson. Friends will be received Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 4th, in Liberty United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lois Swestyn officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, 1330 Banetown Road, Washington, PA 15301.
