Frances Marie Gisoni, 79, was called home to the Lord Tuesday, September 25, 2012, after a lengthy illness. She was born August 31, 1933, in Washington, a daughter of Frank and Emma Comito Sim. Mrs. Gisoni is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Joseph A. Gisoni, Jr.; five sons, Joseph A. Gisoni (Cherie) of Washington, Gregory Gisoni (Melissa) of Murraysville, Chris Gisoni and Shawn Gisoni, both of Washington, and Matthew Gisoni (Lana) of McMurray; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Michele, Maddie, Mackenzie, Devan, Jillian and Sydney; and a sister, Rose Marie “Ree” Nichols of Washington. She spent over 40 years in the retail shoe industry, managing Teek’s Fine Shoes in the Washington Mall and South Hills Village Mall and later the Union Shoe Store in downtown Washington. The joys of her life included cooking, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her activities at the Immaculate Conception Church, where she was active for over 50 years in the choir and volunteered many hours at the fish fry and summer festival. Mrs. Gisoni was an avid home decorator for the holidays and was extremely proud of her Christmas village. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, September 28, 2012, in Immaculate Conception Church, with Father William Feeney as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church and Choir.
