Myrtle May McVehil, 95, of Washington, died Monday, October 8, 2012, in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home, South Strabane Township. She had been in declining health for three years.
She was born October 10, 1916, in East Finley Township, daughter of Melvin and Bertha Ealy Ritchea.
Mrs. McVehil was a homemaker and, when she was younger, was an aide at Washington Hospital.
She was a member of Church of Christ in Washington.
On January 5, 1957, she married William Lester McVehil Sr., who died December 12, 1982.
Surviving are son William Lester (Sylvia) McVehil Jr. of Washington; two daughters, Bessie Louise (Charles) McElhaney of Washington and Leona (James) Dodd of Houston; brother William Ritchea of Ohio; sister Frances Ealy of Washington; seven grandchildren, James (Pamela) Dodd, Donald (Donna) Dodd, Debra (Keith) Erhart, Evelyn Pitzer, Kelley (Bill) Newman, Yvonne Reyes and Bernice Planco; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, John and Melvin; sister Virginia; and grandson Charles McElhaney Jr. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, with Bob Davison officiating.
