Astra Donley, 76, of Washington, died Friday, October 12, 2012, in the Donnell House, following a brief illness.
She was born December 6, 1935, in Latvia, a daughter of Rudolfs and Martha Vasilevskis.
Mrs. Donley was a registered nurse, graduating from Allegheny General Hospital’s School of Nursing, in 1956.
At one time she worked at a Allegheny General Hospital, was Director of Nursing at Humbert Lane, and retired from the Greenery.
She was a member of the Homemaker’s Club in South Franklin and the Canonsburg Craft Circle.
Mrs. Donley enjoyed traveling and gardening, was an avid reader, and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.
She was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Eighty Four.
In 1960, she married Merle Donley, who died in 1978.
Surviving are a son, Clay Donley, of Washington; a daughter, Karen (Jasin) Cain, of Bethel Park; two step-sons, Kit (Paula) Donley, of Tucson, Arizona, and Rex (Karel) Donley, of San Antonio, Texas; and six grandchildren, Kelli, Cody, Dax, Kate, Garrett, and Kale Donley.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2012, with Rev. Peggy Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery in Eighty Four. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Citizens Library, 55 S. College Street, Washington, PA 15301.
