Shirley Ann Hartzell, 77, of Washington, died Sunday, November 4, 2012, in the Washington County Health Center.
She was born November 21, 1934, a daughter of Samuel D. and Meril Gail Noble Barlow.
Mrs. Hartzell was a cook in various local clubs, and was daycare worker later in life.
She loved being a part of her grandchildren’s lives, enjoyed going to their football and baseball games, and shopping, and was an avid Steelers fan.
Mrs. Hartzell was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
On August 28, 1959, she married Donald James Hartzell, who died March 27, 2008.
Surviving are 3 sons, C. Keith Hartzell, of Canonsburg; Donald (Donna) Hartzell and Robert (Beth) Hartzell, both of Washington; a daughter, Rebecca Ames, of Washington; 8 grandchildren, Michelle Hartzell, Kelley (Adam) Mercurio, David Ames, Christopher Beck, Chelsey, Lydia, Amelia and Patience Hartzell; and 6 great grandchildren, Frankie Yarbrough, Kevin and Kelvin McCracken, Jadyn Gilliard, and Addison and A.J. Mercurio.
Deceased is a son, Stephen Hartzell.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at 10;00 a.m., with Rev. Karen Stevenson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Washington City Mission, 84 W. Wheeling St., Washington, PA 15301.
