James Holter Long, 88, of Washington, died Saturday, December 15, 2012, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born March 21, 1924, in Mt. Morris, a son of Frank Albert and Edith Ann Holter Long.
Mr. Long graudated from high school and attended Penn Commercial College for two years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Long worked for the U.S. Post Service in Washington, first as a carrier, and at the time of his retirement, was a window clerk.
He loved watching golf on television, was an avid golfer, and was a member of Pulaski Club Golf League.
He will be missed by his dog Cinder.
On August 5, 1967, he married Freda Staley, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Darlene (Howard) Henninger, of Claysville.
Deceased are two brothers, Frank and Robert E. Long.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Burial will follow in West Alexander Cemetery.
