James Francis Lantz, 83, of Washington, passed away on January 4, 2013, in Presbyterian Senior Care.
He was born on March 21, 1929, in Southview, a son of James and Jennie Perurcha Lantz.
Mr. Lantz was a graduate of Trinity High School and was a veteran of the Navy. For 33 years, he worked at Jessop Steel, retiring as a craneman.
He was a softball umpire, president of the PTA, and enjoyed sports, dart ball, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Lantz was a member of Third U.P. Church, where he had served as an elder and treasurer and taught Sunday School.
On September 20, 1952, he married Dolores Barnes, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Cindy (W. David) Good of Washington, PA; a brother, George Lantz of Vienna, WV; four granddaughters, Kylie (David) Eccles, Ashley (James) Smith, Joelle Baird, and Kelsey Lantz; and two great-grandsons, Alex and Reece Eccles.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles “Bobby” Lantz; and a son, Richard Lantz.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, January 7th. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
