Maryann Petronka, 79, of Washington, died Monday, January 7, 2013, in Evergreen Assisted Living.
She was born March 13, 1933, in Washington, a daughter of Andrew and Patricia Plesz Gniewkoski.
Mrs. Petronka graduated from Trinity High School in 1950. Following high school graduation, she worked at Viehman’s Pharmacy in the drug store and at the fountain counter for 10 years before becoming a homemaker. Mrs. Petronka enjoyed modeling in her younger years. She also enjoyed entertaining family and was an avid reader of history. Her greatest love was her grandson, Camden, “her baby.”
Mrs. Petronka was a member of St. Hilary Church.
On November 8, 1958, she married Frank N. Petronka, who died October 13, 1994.
Surviving are a daughter, Traci (James R.) Walsh of Washington; a brother, Andy Koski of Washington; three sisters, Dolores (deceased Richard) Bednarski of Avella, Donna Rae (deceased William) Peters of Canonsburg, and Patricia (John) Bolin of New Port Richey, Florida; a grandson, Camden Walsh; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a son, Frank A. Petronka.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, January 11th, in St. Hilary Church, with Father Thomas D. O’Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
