Margaret French McIlroy, 84, of Washington, died February 10, 2013, in Washington County Health Center.
She was born June 5, 1928, in Washington, a daughter of Robert A. and Geneva Burns French.
She attended Washington High School. For many years, for many people, Margaret’s face was the first face seen as she sat behind the
receptionist’s desk at the Washington County Health Center. There she worked as Payroll Clerk, retiring in 1995.
Prior to working at the Health Center, she worked as a secretary for her companion, Jim Houck, with whom she had been with for 35 years. They were both employed by a major oil company in the
seismographic department.
Surviving are a son, James French McIlroy of Zebulon, North Carolina; a daughter, Colleen McIlroy Van Eman of Pontotoc, Mississippi; her life partner, James Houck; three sisters, Linda Sroka (Paul) of Washington, Judy Sprowls of the State of California, and Shirley Jacobs of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Mark and Justin Sanders and Shawn and Kyle McIlroy; and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, William Charles McIlroy; and a grandchild, Tyler Neal McIlroy.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or service.
