Lucille Elma Irwin McCartney, 92, of Washington, died on Friday, February 22, 2013, in the Donnell House. She was born on December 23, 1920, in Buffalo Township, Washington County, a daughter of William H. and Elma Sweitzer Irwin. A homemaker, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, reading, especially her bible, and animals, especially dogs. On April 8, 1939, she married Henry Warren “Hank” McCartney, who died on April 29, 2009. Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Patterson, of Washington; a sister, Vera Anderson, of Washington; 2 grandchildren, Autumn (David) Langham and Matthew Patterson; 4 great grandchildren, Jesse, Charity, Samuel and Lily Langham; and many nieces and nephews, including Dan Irwin, who had once lived with her. Deceased are 4 brothers, James, William, Kenneth and Martin; a son-in-law, Bill Patterson and a great grandchild, Joy Langham. Friends will be received on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, February 25, 2013, with Pastor Larry Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1100 Liberty Ave, Ste E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
