John Wayne Hunt, Sr., 74, of Washington, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, in Presbyterian Senior Care, following a one-year illness.
He was born October 23, 1938, in West Finley, a son of Vernon and Mary Leota Wise Hunt.
Mr. Hunt was a graduate of Chartiers High School. He was a veteran of the Army, serving from December 11, 1961, until his honorable discharge on March 4, 1963, with a rank of Private First Class.
Mr. Hunt worked as an over-the-road truck driver for New Penn Motor Express for many years.
In November 1959, he married Bertha Florence Mull, who died March 9, 1992.
Surviving are three sons, Roger Lee Hunt and John Wayne Hunt, Jr. (Andrea), both of Washington and David Paul Hunt (Danielle) of McDonald; three brothers, James Hunt of Vandergrift, Richard Hunt of Washington and Dan Hunt of Latrobe; and two grandchildren, Isabella and Lydia.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1st, with Pastor Michael Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
