Thomas P. Arena, Sr., 79, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Washington Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1933 in Washington, the son of Patsy Area and Grace Murphy Arena.
Mr. Arena graduated from Washington High School in 1950 and attended Penn Commercial.
He was employed at Jessop Steel for 38 years as a carpenter and he was a Club House Teller at the Meadows for 40 years.
He served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956 where he received the National Defense Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Amberjack submarine.
Mr. Arena enjoyed reading and listening to music.
He was a member of First Christian Church.
On September 25, 1954, in Winchester, VA, he married Jacquelyn L. Roux who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Leslie (Pete) Povich of Washington, Cathy (Johnny) Hoy of Virginia Beach, VA, Amy (Mike) Ross of Chesapeake, VA; two brothers Joseph (Margie) Arena and Patrick Arena both of Washington; a sister Nancy Razvoza of Port Charlotte, FL; and six grandchildren, Nicole Jones, Christopher Pryor, Casey and Tyler Hoy, Jacob and Caitlin Ross; two great grandchildren; Madelyn and Benjamin Jones.
Deceased is a son Tommy Arena.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
