Norma Jean Silvers

Norma Jean Silvers, 81, of Washington, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, in her home. She was born August 16, 1931, in Prosperity, a daughter of the late Harry Guy and Lorena Warrell Ross. Mrs. Silver was a 1949 graduate of Trinity High School and a homemaker. She was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star 187 of Claysville and past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Lincoln Chapter. She was past officer of the White Shrine and member of the Arms Club, Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and Loyal of Order of Moose Lodge 22. On September 16, 1950, she married George Edward Silvers, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, George E. Silvers Jr. of Washington, David T. (Cindy) Silvers of Grafton, W.Va., and Robert B. (Judy) Silvers of Prosperity; a daughter, Melody J. (Thomas) Butterfield of Washington; a sister, Freda Szotkowski; five grandchildren, Jessica Butterfield, Devin Silvers, Kara Silvers, Kimberly Desmond and Brett Haskitt; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Maya Desmond. Deceased are a brother, Delmer “Red” Ross; a sister, Lucy Ewing; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Fenton Silvers. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Syria Shrine, Shriners Hospital Fund, 1877 Shriners Way, Cheswick, PA 15024.
