Gladys Virginia Skariot, 94, of Washington, went to be with the Lord, Monday, April 1, 2013, in Donnell House.
She was born October 25, 1918, in Scenery Hill, a daughter of William Wesley Rodgers and Hannah Gatts Rodgers.
Mrs. Skariot attended Wylie Avenue and Trinity Schools and was a homemaker.
She attended Meadowlands Methodist Church and North Buffalo Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Skariot was a member of Washington Senior Citizens Center and Democratic Women and a life member of L.O.O.M. 22. Her hobbies included baking, working in her garden and playing bingo and cards. She also enjoyed watching the Steelers and Pirates.
Surviving are two sons, Steve (Louie) Skariot, Jr. and John (Margaret) Skariot, both of Washington; a daughter, Shirley Snyder of Washington; eight grandchildren, Arthur Jay (Sandy) Snyder, Brian Snyder, Cheryl (Ken) Gasparovich, Alan (Leica) Snyder, Michael (Tracy) Skariot, Cindy (Mike) Keelon, Jennifer (Brandt) Bowman and Lisa Skariot; 15 great-grandchildren, William, Owen, Nicolas and Alexas Skariot, Steven and Stephanie Keelon, Alaina and Cole Gasparovich, Katy, Shane, Sierra, Joshua, Brittany, and A.J. Sndyer, and Mia Bowman; and one great-great grandson, Levi Snyder.
Also surviving is a niece who was also her caregiver, Jean Cunningham.
Deceased are her husband, Steve Skariot Sr., who died May 14, 1986; six sisters, Myrtle and Della Rodgers, who died as infants, Goldie Demster, Olive Obney, Dorothy Virtue and Dessie Yeager; and four brothers, Clarence, Everett (Bob), John and Archie Rodgers.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 4th. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
