Johnetta “Peg” Sayre, 86 of Washington, died Friday, April 5, 2013, in her residence.
She was born July 4, 1926, in Washington, a daughter of John Armstrong and Gertrude Devore Armstrong.
Mrs. Sayre was a graduate of Trinity High School. She was a homemaker who previously worked at Reichart Furniture and sold Sarah Coventry Jewelry. She enjoyed reading, knitting, quilting and solving crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Sayre was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church.
On June 26, 1961, she married Arthur L. Sayre, who died April 19, 1988.
Surviving are two sons, John L. Sayre and Arthur L. “Larry” Sayre, II, both of Washington; two daughters, Ruth Anna Barbour and Jonita M. Amonette (Terry), both of LaVergne, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Shannon Asbury, Schenley Chambers, Amber Sayre, Jacob and Noah Amonette; three great-grandchildren, Jorden Sayre and Jayce and Jayd Henderson.
Deceased are two sisters, Betty Hull and Ruth Hayes; and a brother, Clarence “Bud” Armstrong.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 9th, with Rev. Thomas Bellhy officiating. Burial will follow in West Middletown Cemetery.
