Rosie Lee Dates Patterson, 68, of Washington, died April 10, 2013, in the Donnell House. She was born June 6, 1944 in Sylacauga, AL, the daughter of Willie Augusta Truss Dates of Washington and the late William Henry Dates. She was a 1962 graduate of Trinity High School, and a 1970 graduate of The Washington Hospital School of Nursing. Rosie was employed by The Washington Hospital as a registered nurse for 18 years and was a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. The last several years she worked in home and hospice care including for Medi Home Hospice. Rosie enjoyed watching all sports on television, her grandchildren’s sports games and watching her children growing up. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she was an usher and a member of the Missionary Society. She was also a member of Western-Star Temple #3 and Alpha Council #1. Surviving are a son; Joseph L. (Edele) Henderson, Jr. of Washington; a daughter, Rhonda (Richard) Barnes of Washington, with whom she made her home; three brothers, Robert Dates and Frederick Dates, both of Washington, and James “Dino” Dates of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister Nancy McGruder of Washington; seven grandchildren; Richard, Shayne, Zachary, Celina, Keara, Joe-lea, Marquesha; and 10 great grandchildren. Deceased is a brother, William Dates. Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, in Friendship Baptist Church, 17 West Walnut St., Washington where services will held on Saturday, April 13th at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard White officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church. Arrangements are being handled by William. G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd.
