George Kupar, Jr., 85, of Washington, died Thursday, April 10, 2013, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1927, in Isabella, a son of George Kupar, Sr., and Susan Kundrat Kupar.
Mr. Kupar was a 1945 graduate of Ellsworth High School and worked as a coal miner for Beth Energy.
An avid baseball fan, he pitched for a Cleveland Indians farm team in 1948. He enjoyed gardening.
Mr. Kupar was a member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church in Charleroi.
On September 1, 1956, he married Gertrude L. Saveikis, who died May 18, 2007.
Surviving are a son, George J. Kupar of Washington; a daughter, Karen Zumpetta of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey; a sister, Helen Magera of Cokeburg; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Alexandra Zumpetta.
Deceased are two sisters Mary Wasulko and Theresa Krajnak.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 15th, in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, Charleroi, with Father James Ragan as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray. Memorial contributions may be made to Donnell House, Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
