Mary Bartusiak (Bartusick), 94, of Washington, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, in Country Meadows Nursing Home, Bridgeville.
She was born November 25, 1918, in Washington, a daughter of Mykita “Mike” and Martha Sawczak Bartusick.
Miss Bartusiak attended McClay School and graduated from Trinity High School in 1936. She worked at Hazel-Atlas and Brockway Glass for over 36 years, first as a selector-packer, then in quality control.
Miss Bartusiak lived on the small family farm with her sister her entire life and enjoyed country living. She was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Canonsburg. Miss Bartusiak was a member of the Eastern Byzantine Chorus, which sang during the first mass that had been translated into English from Slavonic, with Bishop Sheen as celebrant.
Surviving are a sister, Stella Bartusiak of Washington; nieces, Janice Mueller, Linda Hill, Kashka Warden, Debbie McGovern and Cindy Reyburn; and nephews, Michael and John Bartusick.
Deceased are two brothers, John Bartusick and Paul Bartusiak, a sister, Sophia Bartusiak, and three sisters who died in infancy.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, April 22nd, in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Canonsburg, with Father Joseph Jugan as celebrant. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. A Panachida Service will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home. Those attending the funeral service are asked to go directly to the church on Monday morning.
