Patrick Michael Hellmann
Patrick Michael Hellmann, age 27, of Lancaster, PA passed away on Sunday April 28, after a brief illness.
He was born on January 4, 1986 in Hershey, PA.
Pat was a 2004 graduate of Hempfield High School and a 2009 graduate of Millersville University where he received a B.S. in Communication/Public Relations. While at Hempfield he was a two-time Lancaster-Lebanon League football all-star. He was a four year Letterman in wrestling, and a state medalist at 189 pounds. He accepted a scholarship at University of Pittsburgh Johnstown (UPJ) after entertaining numerous offers for both football and wrestling. Pat was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan, attending games annually, braving the coldest weather Pittsburgh could offer. It was his hope to live in Pittsburgh one day.
He had an infectious smile and a twinkle in his eye. He was a true friend to many and was once described as a foxhole buddy, because he was the guy who would always have your back.
Pat loved road trips and was ready at the drop of a hat, always having a bag packed for just such an occasion. Having participated in several wrestling clubs in high school and college, he was always ready for an adventure, and enjoyed sharing stories about his exploits. He had recently accepted a job in Wilkes-Barre, PA and was preparing to move on to a new adventure in his life.
Pat had previously donated time to the Hempfield Wrestling program and was currently involved in PAK, a charitable organization aimed at helping the Lancaster community. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to The PAK, who has established a site in his memory at https://youcaring.com/PatHellmann.
Pat enjoyed the outdoors and life in general. He loved his family and friends, and was especially proud of his godsons, Logan and Carter. He will be forever missed by his parents, Mike and Lynne (Spence) Hellmann, and his brothers Matthew and Zachary. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Spence, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Patrick was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew, who died in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2 from 12:30-2:30 at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd. 925 Allison Avenue Washington, PA. Service will be held immediately afterwards, with burial at Washington Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Lancaster, PA at a date yet to be determined.
