Gertrude Theresa “Dorothy” Sonson, 89, of Washington, died Monday, May 20 in the Washington County Health Center
She was born January 12, 1924, in Pittsburgh the daughter of Paul Buccigrossi and Antoinette Manella Buccigrossi.
Mrs. Sonson was a member Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Christian Mothers.
She was employed by the Washington Hospital for 14 years in laundry and dietary. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, bingo, and listening to country music.
On April14, 1945 she married Vincent J. Sonson, who died August 24, 1976.
Surviving are a son, Edward (Linda) Sonson of Washington; two daughters Deborah Barnhart (Ken Sibert) and Antoinette (Jeffrey) Bainer, both of Washington; five grandchildren, Edward (Andria) Sonson, Amy Burk, Brian (Michelle) Barnhart, Jeffrey Bainer and Christa Bainer; four great grandchildren, Vincent and Olivia Sonson, Perry and Mela Barnhart.
She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased are six sisters, Frances, Margaret, Mary, Ida, Betty and Ann; one brother, Fred.
A Blessing Service will be held Friday, May 24, at 1:00 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Father Carmen D’Amico officiating, followed by visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
