Hildreth Meta Francis

Hildreth Meta Francis, 88, of Brackenridge, formally of Claysville, died Monday, May 27 in the Applewood Personal Care Home. She was born July 10, 1924 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of Ernest William Gall and Hedwig Manske Gall. Hildreth was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, New York. She was a homemaker and at one time employed by Ward Printing as a bookbinder. Mrs. Francis was a member of the Claysville United Methodist Church. She played the squeezebox accordion and loved baseball, especially the Yankees and later the Pirates. She also enjoyed gardening, NASCAR races, canning, crocheting and knitting. On October 29, 1965 she married Charles Kenneth Francis Sr., who died April 6, 2001. Surviving is a son, Charles K. “Bud” (Brenda) Francis Jr. of Tarentum; a daughter, Lisa “Lee Ann” (Charles) Sorice of Washington; two step sons, Charles E. (Barbara) Francis of Claysville, George P. (Gaye) Francis of Carlisle; two step daughters, Peggy Jo (Bernard) Bakaitis of Canonsburg, Mary Lou Galentine of Washington; three grandchildren, Kathryn Grace Sorice, Alexa Grill-Francis, Grace Grill-Francis; nine step grandchildren, Lisa Moore, Elaine Saltzman, Lyle Galentine, Bernard and Kenneth Bakaitis, Christi Jeffreys, Rachelle Hudak, Robert and Jason Francis; numerous great grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, great nephew and nieces. Deceased are three brothers, Ernie, Herb, Gary Gall; a stepson John K. Francis; a stepdaughter, Mona Lee Morris. At the request of the family all services are private.
