Fred Ashbrook Guinn, 84, of Washington, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a brief illness.
He was born January 17, 1929, in Washington, a son of Fred W. Guinn and Blanche Ashbrook Guinn.
Mr. Guinn was a 1946 graduate of Washington High School. For 50 years, he worked as a bricklayer for Union 11, serving as Union President just as his father had.
He enjoyed NASCAR racing, football, and hunting when able, especially in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Mr. Guinn was a member of First Christian Church and a member of its choir for over 45 years.
On May 7, 1950, he married Loretta Zaremba, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah Lynn Carota of Washington and Kathleen Motshagen of Valparaiso, Indiana; and six grandchildren, Nicholas Daniel Carota, Lisa Dominique Carota McEwen, Nichole Michelle Hilbrecht, Danielle Marie Wade, Michelle Christine Motshagen and Shane Matthew Motshagen.
Deceased is a sister, Mary Lou Knestrick.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 5th, with Rev. Stephen Smythers officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
